Revision for assessment 27/01/15 How much can you remember about what we have learnt in this Unit? Starter Rate your understanding on a scale of: Excellent Very good Fairly good Not very good Poor

For (functionalist perspective) Discuss how far sociologists would agree that the main function of schools is to teach children to become good citizens (12 marks) Introduction – start by defining the key terms from the question, outline what the rest of the essay will be about. Main part should include at least 3 PEE paragraphs FOR and 3 PEE paragraphs AGAINST For (functionalist perspective) Point - answer the question (functionalist perspective) Explanation – elaborate on your point – add detail. Evidence / example – add an example. Against (Marxist perspective) Start most of the paragraphs with a connective (moreover, furthermore, in addition, also, however, etc.) Link- Always make sure you link your point back to the question to stop you rambling! - Conclusion – give a final answer to the question and repeat the main points to back up your answer. Your essay will count towards your final assessment mark. Deadline is on Thursday to submit your essay. Students should take note of highlighted writing how to structure a 12 mark essay

Task 1: Poster on Education In small groups, using your notes you will create a poster on one of the following topics.
