COMMON FACTORS Lesson 1.1

Setting up our math notebook Write “TABLE OF CONTENTS” at the top of the 1st page in your math notebook. All of our work will be completed in our math notebook this year so that it is easier to keep up with. Our table of contents will be a quick way to find the work within the notebook. Write the number “1” on the TOP, RIGHT corner of you notebook. As we add things to our table of contents we will number the pages in this way.

Lesson 1.1 Common Factors What are factors? Whenever you multiply 2 numbers together you get a product. These 2 numbers that you multiply together are called Factors

Lesson 1.1 Common Factors What does it mean to have things in common What are some things that you have in common with your classmates What are some things you have in common with me When we ask about common factors, we are asking about factors that 2 (or more) numbers have in common.

Practice on White Board Find ALL the Factors of 20. Find ALL the factors of 24. Circle all of the factors that the 2 numbers have in common.

More practice List all of the factors of 32 Circle all of the factors that the 2 numbers have in common.
