Bradford Where is this picture of ? CITY PARK FACTS: City Park, Bradford: The mirror pool is the largest urban water feature in the UK. It can be a cool, tranquil and misty space; a huge, reflective watery mirror, or a bubbling, squirting, popping and splashing fountain display. At night the mirror pool transforms into a magical illuminated light, laser and water display. City Park’s computer plays 100 fountains, lights, mist and water effects to create a spectacular watery laser light display. FutureGoals To raise awareness about the demand for skills and jobs in our region, mostly in digital, engineering and manufacturing, and infrastructure (construction) To support you to make better informed choices about your future To help you learn more about the place you live, study and play Set context of the campaign: the campaign is based on research and feedback from young people, the reach will actually be in the region of 940,000 and will appear on bus stops within 500 metres of every secondary school in the region, poster pillars, delivered to every school, college, community centres, Job Centre Plus. The campaign will consist of 6 posters, postcards and a microsite featuring resources and videos.

Write Your Future Did you know in the digital sector… The number of people employed in the region – 47,000 The number of unique jobs advertised in the last year – 41,000 The average salary (higher skilled digital jobs) - £40,000 (average in the region £21,000) To work in the digital sector you need technical skills such as programming language e.g. Java and website development, problem solving and creative Q. Does anyone know of a computer gaming company based in Leeds City Region? Q. Anyone play Worms or The Escapist? – These title are distributed by ‘Team 17’ based in Leeds. Q. Anyone heard of ‘Rockstar Games’? Q. Does anyone know where they started? A. right here in the Leeds City Region in 1997 and it is still the home of the company’s games development.

Make It Here Did you know in the manufacturing and engineering sector… The number of people employed in the region – 144,000 The number of unique jobs advertised in the last year – 16,000 The average salary (higher skilled jobs) - £32,000 (average in the region £21,000) To work in the engineering and manufacturing sector you need mechanical aptitude, decision making and problem solving skills FACTS: Bradford based Morrisons is the UK’s 2nd largest fresh food manufacturer, They produce all kinds of food from freshly baked bread and seafood to fresh produce, chilled foods and meat products. Morrisons have 16 of their own manufacturing sites; 4 of these are located within the Leeds City Region and 2 of these are located in Bradford. Morrison’s Leeds City Region based bakery produces 2.5 million loaves of bread and rolls each week for distribution to their UK stores. FACTS: KONE is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of Lifts, Escalators and people transit systems has a UK assembly plant based in Keighley. In 2020, the world will see the completion of its first 1,000 meter-plus building, the Jeddah Tower in Saudi Arabia. Through ground-breaking innovation KONE are developing products that are pushing the world’s skylines to new heights. Products assembled in Keighley are shipped for installation in some of the most spectacular buildings across the UK, Europe and the world.
