Presentation transcript:

My body now: How my body changes as I grow I understand my own body’s uniqueness, my developing sexuality, and that of others. HWB 3-47a rshp.scot

Puberty definition Puberty is the process of physical changes that sees a child's body mature into an adult body capable of sexual reproduction. It starts with hormonal signals from the brain to the gonads: these are the ovaries in a girl, the testes in a boy. Then, the gonads produce hormones that stimulate sexual feelings and bring about changes in the brain, bones, muscle, blood, skin, hair, breasts, and sex organs. Young people grow in height and weight. rshp.scot

Personal hygiene Personal hygiene is about keeping yourself clean so that you can keep healthy. If you don’t keep yourself and your things clean, then bacteria can grow. This can affect your oral hygiene (that’s your mouth, gums and teeth) and because we sweat this can mean your body or clothes can smell bad, this is called body odour. rshp.scot
