Introduction: About the University of Science & Technology Meghalaya (USTM) Establishment Recognitions/Approval Web 2.0

Definitions: Web 2.0 There is no hard and fast definition of Web 2.0 and however it is agreed that it is the second generation of Web where users can participate in generation of web content with much of the knowledge technology. “The term "Web 2.0" was first used in January 1999 by Darcy DiNucci, an information architecture consultant. In her article “Fragmented Future”. “The term Web 2.0 is given by Dale Dougherty, Head of Maker Media Division of O’Reilly in 2003.”

Objectives: To find out the gender wise distribution of Web 2.0 users survey To find out the rate of awareness about Web 2.0 tools To find out the purpose of using Web 2.0 tools.

Methodology: Questionnaire Interviews

Findings and Discussions: Post Graduate Students, Research Scholar and Teacher

Recommendations: Need information literacy programme among library users of University of Science and Technology Meghalaya Need of motivation towards Web 2.0 tools and applications among category of library users. Need of teachers involvement for the exploring the benefits of Web 2.0 applications in different subject matter.

Conclusion With the conclusion of user awareness survey on Web 2.0 tools among the category of library users of University of Science and Technology Meghalaya that provides valuable information to the library users about Web 2.0 application and tools. Thus application of Web 2.0 tools that could enables each and every users for getting right kind of information and knowledge without consuming time and users can easily interact and ideas, views among the community
