THE RESUMÉ The resumé is not a job application but is a chronological description of your education and experience. The resumé must: be well prepared and logically organized. In other words it must be easy to read. Be impeccable in its presentation; and the facts it includes must be true and precise. Level Four 406.02a OHP #1

THE COMPONENTS OF A RESUMÉ . Personal Identification Name and given name; Address; Phone number; Social Insurance No. (optional); Date of birth; Social status (single, married, etc); Nationality Level Four 406.02a OHP #2

THE COMPONENTS OF A RESUMÉ . Education & Work Experience Describe your education in reverse chronological order, beginning with last diploma received; All schools attended and currently attending; A short description of all jobs and positions held in the past, including any employment at a summer training centre. Everything that you have done, even the smallest jobs should be included. Level Four 406.02a OHP #3

THE COMPONENTS OF A RESUMÉ . Personal Information How do you spend your spare time? Are you involved in any sports, social activities or cultural pursuits? Are there any awards that you have won in school, cadets or elsewhere. Do not hesitate to mention them. Level Four 406.02a OHP #4

THE COMPONENTS OF A RESUMÉ . References You do not need to have references, but it will not hurt to have the support of two or three people who could attest to your qualifications and experience. These people should provide a letter of reference if needed, or at least be able to answer a few questions about you. Make sure you have the permission of these people before using them as references. Level Four 406.02a OHP #5

PRESENTATION OF YOUR RESUMÉ Should not be more than three pages; Should be easy to read; Your writing style should be dynamic and precise, and free of lengthy sentences. It must be printed on 81/2 x 11 white or slightly coloured paper, on one side only. Make sure your grammar is perfect; Avoid abbreviations or acronyms. Write the titles or positions in full. Level Four 406.02a OHP #6
