Cornerstones of Fair Trade in Tourism Fair prices cover the service providers‘ full costs of providing the expected service/product quality, secure livelihoods and include contributions to community development. Fair working conditions include respect of workers rights and ILO core conventions, empowerment of women and disadvantaged groups of the population, and the protection of children from exploitation. Fair Working Conditions Fair Prices Community Local Residents Fair Trade Partnerships Between All Actors in Tourism Integration Into The Local Economy And Regional Development Participation and democracy are prerequisites for local communities in tourism destinations to benefit from tourism. Sustainable Resource Use And Environmental justice All the actors involved respect human rights. Their partnerships are characterised by mutual respect, reliability, transparency and accountability. Environmental justice is achieved when all people, regardless of ethnic or social origin, equally benefit from environmental protection measures and have equal access to the decision-making processes that shape sustainable development. © Arbeitskreis Tourismus & Entwicklung (akte), 2004
