YOUR TASK: Find evidence to answer the question, is Andrew Jackson guilty of genocide? If not, who is? As you sift through the documents, you’re looking for evidence that points to someone’s guilt and/or proves genocide – you must highlight that evidence & document it in your report. Who could be responsible?: Andrew Jackson (yellow) Martin Van Buren (green) Winfield Scott (pink) The US Army (orange) The Georgia Guard (blue) You must go where the evidence takes you!

I have assigned your groups & roles within your groups I have assigned your groups & roles within your groups. In each group, there will be: Reader – reads aloud the evidence, highlights evidence, & makes annotations when prompted to do so by the group. Vocab Expert – must look up the definition vocab words, when prompted by the group, using device or dictionary. Keep a running list of the these words. Main Idea Expert – finds the main idea of the text & writes down a short summary on the document. Investigative Reporter – fills in the investigation report as you go along.

When complete with a document, fill in the Evidence Section of the “Investigation Report” in the corresponding section. Raise your hand, so I can come check your work. Once you have gone through all of the evidence, review with your team the most convincing pieces of evidence – the ones that prove Jackson’s guilt and the ones that prove his innocence. Decide if Jackson is Guilty or Not Guilty. If your verdict is Not Guilty – you must decide who is & support it with evidence.

The Verdict Report: Complete all remaining sections of the verdict report – you may share the load. Other group members can complete each section. This will be your final grade! Points for lack of participation/off task behavior will be deducted from each team member’s final score. Grammar/spelling counts!
