The Path to College – A Checklist First set of important timelines are for the Junior year; Scheduling – the interview, AP’s , dual credit, internships February 28, all juniors ……..ACT……… SAT – in school, March 21 College searches Maintain or improve grades for the scholarship opportunities, Advanced and Honors Diploma. JUNIOR INTERVIEW TRANSCRIPTS ARE READY (Approximately FEB. 2) 5th semester The Purpose- to set up the schedule for senior year To discuss the possibilities for post high school Majors and colleges 4 and 2 year plans SAT and ACT recommendations SAT subject tests recommendations Diploma choices Deficits or recommendations for credits

Scheduling for the 2018-2019 School Year The students are explained the process for scheduling in their US History classes. A packet will be given to take home. Once they have gone through their transcript and the process, The student is pulled one by one from US History class and then their classes are uploaded their classes into IC. Choices are checked against; Teacher recommendations Current grades Needed classes Parent/Counselor/Student decision - or the green form.

TEST PREP ACT, all practice on January 24th. All have access to the prep sites during their first period classes . The same test prep as the one previously taken is on line and down- loadable SAT/Kaplan, they have had access as well. AP practice in on line on this site. Learning Express- has subject test/AP and both ACT and SAT Practice All juniors have had access to three test prep sites at school; ACT on line SAT Practice and Kaplan Learning EXPRESS All three are free

SAT in School Test Test date is March 21st $46 due 1/24 (next Wed)

Test Dates and preparation Test dates and the junior year WHICH ONE? Pink contains the fees and late fees Access to the websites Deadlines for sign-ups Dates tend to be fairly the same from one year to the next Vouchers for test fees (does not include late charge) are given to FRL only Vouchers also include free app. fees (FRL) On the back of the test dates- ACT VS. SAT SAT no longer subtracts ¼ pt. for wrong answers Since all students are taking the ACT. They will be able to get results to start on SAT and ACT have enough differences that your student could do better on one than the other.(possibly) Statistically, over three times usually lessens the chance of an increase score.

GRADUATION PLAN Based on needs for regular diploma only GPA and class rank ACT scores empty as of DECEMBER Shows areas of DEFICIT Shows credits attained Shows languages in both elective box and World Language box Shows current classes assigned for the year

MILLENIUM SCHOLARSHIP Not in Spanish – SOON TO BE Graduate from a Nevada public school. 3.25 GPA. 2 years residence in high school. Demonstrate sufficient competency on the ACT Four math, three science and all other high school requirements met. Need not be a US citizen to qualify, must note on the letter sent upon graduation that you are seeking citizenship. NEWS ! The class of 2017 will receive extra funding for higher ACT or SAT scores.
