A-100 This part of the brain includes more than half the mass Answer: cerebrum

A-200 Question: The Central Nervous System develops from what embryonic structure? Answer: Neural Tube

A-300 QUESTION: Name a structure located in the diencephalon area of the brain ANSWER: Thalamus, hypothalamus, epithalamus

A-400 QUESTION: This part of the brain sends impulses to the skeletal muscles ANSWER: primary motor area

A-500 QUESTION: The pineal body and choroid plexus are found in this brain structure ANSWER: epithalamus

B-100 QUESTION: A rapid, predictable, and involuntary responses to stimuli QUESTION: reflex

B-200 QUESTION: The ridges on the surface of the cerebrum are called ANSWER: gyri or gyrus

B-300 QUESTION: This brain structure in the diencephalon is part of the autonomic nervous system center, helps regulate body temperature, and controls water balance ANSWER: hypothalamus

B-400 QUESTION: A Homunculi is a diagram or model that represents ANSWER: the amount of nerve input into each part of the body

B-500 Question: What are the FOUR major regions of the brain? ANSWER: Cerebrum, Cerebellum, diencephalon, brain stem

C-100 The grooves on the surface of the cerebrum are called Answer: sulci or sulcus

C-200 QUESTION: The brain structure that is responsible for coordination of movements ANSWER: Cerebellum

C-300 QUESTION: This brain stem structure plays an important role in breathing ANSWER: Pons

C-400 QUESTION: This structure in the diencephalon is the relay station for sensory impulses ANSWER: Thalamus

C-500 QUESTION: Name FOUR of the five protective mechanisms for the Central Nervous system ANSWER: 1) hair and scalp 2) Skull and vertebrae (bone) 3) meninges 4) CSF 5) blood brain barrier

D-100 QUESTION: Which of the meninges means “tough mother”? ANSWER: Dura mater

D-200 QUESTION: This brain stem structure plays an important role in controlling bloodpressure, swallowing and vomiting ANSWER: …. Me mammma saaazz … Medulla Oblongata … colonel sanders!

D-300 QUESTION: Gene Simmons must appreciate this cranial nerve because it has motor fibers to the tongue? ANSWER: hypoglossal

D-400 QUESTION: Which cranial nerve has motor fibers to the neck and upper back? ANSWER: Accessory Nerve

D-500 QUESTION: What cranial nerve has sensory fibers to the face and motor fibers to chewing muscles? ANSWER: Trigeminal

E-100 QUESTION: Name the Brain structure Answer: precentral gyrus

E-200 QUESTION: Name the brain structure Answer: central sulcus

E-300 QUESTION: Name the spinal cord structure Answer: Dorsal Horn of graymatter

E-400 QUESTION: Name the brain structure: Answer: Choroid Plexus

E-500 QUESTION: Name the brain structure: Answer: fourth ventricle

FINAL JEOPARDY Topic – Cerebral spinal fluid Question: Use the following terms to describe the circulation pattern of cerebrospinal fluid in the brain and spinal cord: arachnoid villus, lateral ventricles, fourth ventricle, cerebral aqueduct, central canal, Subarachnoid space, third ventricle, choroid plexus … of course you need to fill in the rest of the words! Answer: Csf is produced by the choroid plexus in the ventricles. The CSF moves from the two lateral ventricles to the third ventricle, from there it moves down the cerebral aqueduct into the fourth ventricle. From this point the csf either moves down the central canal in the spinal cord or through openings in the fourth ventricle into the subarachnoid space. Finally it moves back into the bloodstream through the arachnoid villi.
