3. Freedmen’s Bureau (1865) WORKED TO PROTECT BLACK RIGHTS IN THE SOUTH. PROVIDED: EMPLOYMENT, MEDICAL CARE AND EDUCATION

4. Black Codes Purpose: Guarantee stable labor supply now that blacks were liberated. Forced many blacks to become sharecroppers [tenant farmers].

5. JIM CROW LAWS EST. IN THE 1880s. GOV’T CREATED A LAW THE MADE FACILITIES SEPARATE BUT EQUAL.
