Reading Tips from Reflections (22-24) Read smarter, not harder! Budget your time/ workload, try different methods. Notice the visuals . Read actively! Check in before, during and after you read (See figure on pg. 23).

Read Actively During Reading: Take Notes and Respond Highlight or take notes on key points. Write down comments, questions, or ideas you have. Look up new words when you need to.

Read Actively Before Reading: Preview and Ask Questions Seems like a waste of time? A 2 minute preview can help you figure out a lot about what you’re reading and how to read it! Steps: Read before & after materials Flip through the text noticing visuals, organization etc. Ask yourself: “What did I learn? What is my goal? So how should I read this?”

Previewing Practice Round: Always Outnumbered, Always Outgunned Steps: Read before & after materials Flip through the text noticing visuals, organization etc. Ask yourself: “What did I learn?” What is the reading about?
