Objective: Students will be able to prepare for the ethical dilemmas related to our new unit. Agenda Do Now: Turn and talk with your tablemates. Captains will prepare to share with the class. Discuss/Share #1: Captains will share the Do Now answers from their tablemates. Mini-Lesson: Define DILEMMA (noun): a situation in which a difficult decision has to be made between two or more choices. Define SURVIVAL (noun): the state or fact of continuing to live or exist (typically overcoming an accident, ordeal or difficult circumstance). Define ETHICS (noun): moral principles that govern a person’s behavior Work Period: Survival Scenario Decision-Making. Read the Sinking Ship worksheet and discuss your options and priorities with your group. ALL decisions must be unanimous (everyone must agree!). Make sure to write a rationale next to each item your group decides to discard. You will be graded on your DISCUSSION as well as your WORKSHEET. Be ready to present as a group at the end of the task. Reflections: What was one ethical dilemma you faced while completing the worksheet?
