Transdev Dublin Light Rail – Past, Present & Future

Latest facts and figures Contract awarded 2003 Contract retained 2014 Extensions to Date 2 Lines Red and Green Trams of track is segregated 44 Km m passenger journeys mins headway Stops Just a quick reminder of who and what we are…. The Luas operating contract was originally awarded in 2003, and then extended for 5 years in 2014. During that time we have had: - 4 extensions across 2 Lines - we operate 73 trams, across 44km of track which is 82% segregated - we transport 44m passengers across 67 stops, with as little as a 3 minute headway metro style

Rising to the Challenges – 12 months October 17 - Storm Ophelia December 17 - Cross City extension Jan-June 18 – arrival of 502 trams Feb / March 18 – severe tram availability issues March 18 - Storm Emma (Beast from the East) June 18 – Timetable change August 18 - Papal visit In addition to our contractual obligations, over the last 12 months we have more than our fair share of operational challenges – challenges that would have floored a lesser management team! In September we faced Storm Ophelia, which tore the roof off the Control centre. Our traffic supervisors and drivers did an amazing job reverting to pen and paper and ‘line of sight’ to continue to manage the network Throughout 2017 we worked tirelessly to prepare for the Cross City extension, which despite a delay to the new 502 trams, we proudly launched on time! A 4 year project / linking north to south / In January we received the first of the new 502s – which despite a number of teething problems, have been a resounding success with our customers In February major tram availability (or non availability issues) severely compromised our service and risked damaging the Transdev brand. In March we faced Storm Emma, the Beast from the East, which resulted in the closure of the entire city for 48 hours. Proud to say that we were the first public transport operator to get back up and running In June TII requested a new timetable with additional trams – our planners ‘pulled the rabbit from the hat’ to ensure we could deliver the new service on time ahead of the recruitment of new drivers In August – a visit from the Pope and an anticipated 1million visitors stretched us to breaking point. But the most amazing effort from every single department ensured that we not only delivered an exceptional service over the weekend - with not one single customer complaint! Both NTA and TII publicly recognised our amazing preparations and fantastic performance

Rising to the Challenges – next 12 months Meeting capacity on both lines – challenges of success! Mobilisation for Operation and Maintenance Contract Tender Completion of Green Line capacity enhancement Green line tram extension project commencement Red line trams 900k km Overhauls Green line trams 600k km Overhauls 1.3M population vs 37M going to 44M journeys.

Don’t just take our word for it….. Luas customer research - 91% NTA - Dublin’s leading public transport provider Global Light Rail - Operator of the Year 2018 (2nd yr) But don’t just take our word for it – we have a service that has been recognised both with Dublin and further afield: Our own customers delivered a 91% customer satisfaction score this year, putting us in the upper quartile of UK transport providers NTA’s own independent research identified Transdev Luas as Dublin’s leading public transport provider And only last week, we were announced as Operator of the Year at the Global Light Rail awards – for the second year running.
