Presentation transcript:

How to get the offer you want Welcome, thanks for coming. We are from the Future Student team. You may have seen our emails with our unofficial motto: we’re here to help. Tonight is about making sure you are comfortable with the process and have the chance to talk to us one-on-one if you need.

The pathway to university doesn’t need to be confusing Results Response We want to make sure you know what is happening, when. The process has been very silent, but we want to you to know what’s going on in the background. Application via SATAC Offer Enrolment The University of Adelaide

What happens when 3rd December – Equal Consideration 18th December – Results Day 20th December – First Offer Round 3rd January – Change of Preferences 15th January – Main Offer Round From 24th January – Offer Rounds Continue The University of Adelaide

Ordering Your Preferences If you want to study at Adelaide, reflect it in your preferences Your application helps us understand what you want to study and what you might need from us The order of your preferences should put you in the best position to receive an offer to your university of choice We look at your application and get an idea of what you are trying to achieve. Preferences are to assist the offer making process. The University of Adelaide

If you’ve always dreamed of being an engineer, you would show that in your preferences. The University of Adelaide

What is Equal Consideration? Deadline for applicants to pay their application fee prior to the first offer round Your application will be not be assessed if you have outstanding fees If you change your preferences while SATAC are assessing applications, you may not be considered for an offer in the next round You can change your preferences anytime except between 3rd Jan and 15th Jan, however we are not sure how that will affect the offers for the next round, ie the morning of an offer round. Lock your preferences down before results day. Also keep in mind that other people may be changing prefs so the website will be busy. The University of Adelaide

What Does that Mean? Application Submitted Fees Paid Preferences in the best order Your application is eligible to be assessed by SATAC and an offer made in the next round The University of Adelaide

SACE Results Day Your raw ATAR will not consider any adjustment factors (formerly bonus points) Use our chatbot via Facebook Messenger to get your adjusted ATAR You don’t need to change the order of your preferences, you can always update them later Raw ATAR given to you by your school – SATAC does this automatically, ie your adjusted ATAR is what SATAC are assessing. Finding out your adjusted ATAR is only for your own knowledge. Uni’s minimum entry requirement is 65 ATAR. If you have above 65, you’ll be able to study with us. We have other entry pathways. The University of Adelaide

What You Need to Know about Offers An offer is an invitation to enrol in a degree Offers are emailed to the email address on your SATAC application You’ll receive your offer for the highest preference you qualify for You will only receive one offer at a time, which you must then respond to Use a personal email address, ie not your school address that you don’t have access to. The University of Adelaide

How to Respond to Your Offer There are 6 possible responses in SATAC If you are happy with your offer, select accept First preference offers are auto-accepted If you get an offer for a lower preference, you can select accept but wish to be considered for higher preferences If you want to wait for another offer, your preferred degree must be a higher preference than the offer you received 6 options which tell us what you want to do You can also reject or defer your offer The University of Adelaide

Offer Responses Accept Accept but wish to be considered for higher preferences Defer Defer but wish to be considered for higher preferences Reject Reject but wish to be considered for higher preferences 6 options which tell us what you want to do You can also reject or defer your offer The University of Adelaide

The Dec 20th Offer Round Offers will be for first preferences for SACE school leavers only If you get an offer it will be auto-accepted and you’ll receive the welcome email with instructions on getting started If you don’t get an offer, we’ll be in touch on Friday 21st Dec to see if you need help with reordering your preferences If you don’t get an offer it could be for many reasons, including that you changed your preferences after SATAC took the data IB students get results in the new year and will be included in the main offer round The University of Adelaide

Once You’ve Received An Offer You’ll receive a welcome email from the University with your student ID number You can create your University account and access your student email address If you decide to wait for another offer, you can still create your account, but wait to enrol When you’ve accepted the offer you’re happy with, your faculty will help you with your study plan and enrolment via EnrolMe Student ID/user name/card number is all the same Your student number will stay the same no matter which degree you end up enrolling in Faculty and Ask Adelaide are the contacts The University of Adelaide

Change of Preference Deadline Preferences can be changed up until Jan 3rd in preparation for the main offer round You will receive equal consideration for the main offer round (but only if you’ve paid your fees!) If you change your mind after receiving an offer in the first offer round, you can still change your preferences but secure your offer Preferences can be changed after the offer round The University of Adelaide

The 15th Jan Offer Round Offers will be made throughout the day and emailed up until 5pm Respond to your offer by logging into SATAC Your first offer doesn’t have to be your final – respond then rearrange preferences and/or wait for further offer rounds If you don’t receive an offer we will be in touch on the 16th of January The University of Adelaide

Further Offer Rounds Offers will continue to be made weekly throughout Jan, Feb and March If you haven’t selected wish to be considered for higher preferences, we can’t make you another offer Waiting for another offer won’t negatively affect your enrolment, there is plenty of time Offers made twice a week when getting closer to class starting Semester one starts on 4th March The University of Adelaide
