My first conferences will be at 1pm and my last will be at 3:20pm. Thank you for taking time from your schedule to meet with me. Because of the conferences, we will be getting out of school at 12:50pm every day this week! Halloween is coming up fast! Next week I will be emailing out a “Sign Up Genius” (an online signup form) for our Halloween Spooktacular, a food crafting party that will happen in the classroom before lunch. Donations of various fruits and supplies would be appreciated! MATH: We are at the end of our math module, which means that there will be a paper Math Test on Thursday. We will review all we have learned about place value and three-digit numbers. The test will include counting by 10s and 100s from a given number, writing three-digit numbers in different ways (standard, unit, expanded, and word), comparing numbers, and word problems. ELA: Comprehension skill: Character, Setting, Plot. We will read the realistic fiction stories “A Visit To the Desert”, and “How Sled Dogs Run”, and talk about how animals adapt to survive in their environment. We will also talk about plot, and identify the key events that form the story. Sight Words: because, friend, picture, family, off Vocabulary Words (in the stories): adapt, climate, eager, freedom, fresh, sense, shadows, silence. PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES will be from Mon. Oct. 8th to Fri. Oct. 12th. If you need to change the time of your conference, please contact me immediately. FIELD TRIP TO OAKLAND MUSEUM will be on Fri., Oct. 26th. We will be walking to, and taking, BART. HALLOWEEN SPOOKTACULAR inside Room 15 from 10:05-11:15. Requests for supplies will be emailed next week. HALLOWEEN COSTUME PARADE will be from 1-2pm at school. We will be walking around the neighborhood in our costumes.
