What do the pros do??
What do you notice? What did the professional sketches have in common? What did your sketches have in common with the professional sketches? What rules should we have for drawing crime scene sketches?
Crime Scene Sketches Must Have Don’t Have Measurements and Scale Labels and Key (all evidence and large furniture) Neatness Date, Time, Location, Artist Drawings of Evidence/Objects People (except dead bodies)
Scaled Sketches Scaled Sketch = a diagram of the crime scene that uses a scale to represent real measurements Scale = a mathematical relationship between a drawing and a real object/distance ex) 1 inch = 1 mile - ex) 1 box = 1 cm our scale
Steps for Scaled Sketches Make a rough sketch Identify/locate evidence and furniture Take measurements (label rough sketch) Sizes and distances Draw the scene to scale Draw the outline of the scene first Add evidence and furniture Label with measurements
Finish the Scaled Sketch Key (what do the letters represent?) Date, Time, Location, Artist Add notes to describe the evidence (notes can go on the back)
