Impression ILT Hyperop Launch Feb. 05 PBO Seminar Oktober 2004

ILT Hyperop • Greater power range than ILT and ILT XS up to sph. + 13.0 D.; to cyl 6.0 D • 2 new products: ImpressionILT Hyperop ImpressionILT Hyperop XS • The marketing is target group specific. • Product concept: spherical front surface with individual progressive/atoric rear surface. • Parable with ImpressionILT: technical / optical possible mixed ordering possible no mixing with single vision PBO Seminar Oktober 2004

ILT Hyperop Advantages for opticians Advantages for end users • Only Rodenstock offers progressive lenses in this high range of powers. • Highest Index in this range of powers. • Special surface design. • Normal and short progression lengths. • With MDM a maximum improvement of the optical parameters is achieved. • MDM included • Simple and transparent price structuring • Highest visual comfort through special surface design and high index. • Superior optical characteristics through the Individual Lens Technology • Free choice of frames for normal and short progression, priority choice of smaller frames models in the corresponding ranges of power. • In many cases, it is the customer‘s first possibility to choose progressive lenses (the competition does not offer such a wide range of powers). PBO Seminar Oktober 2004

ILT Hyperop Communication Communication with the optician Communication with the end user • Product brochure • Own category on the price list. Communication is mainly worked out from ImpressionILT • No relevant communication. Main testimony: No other progressive lens on today‘s market offers such a wide spectrum of powers for (+) lenses. ILT Hyperop PBO Seminar Oktober 2004

ILT Hyperop “Technical product information“ “Technical information“ contents. Product details Product comparison General ordering tips Lens calculation Specialities in the production Complaints “Expandable“ delivery Linguistic ruling PBO Seminar Oktober 2004

ILT Hyperop “Technical product information“ Product details Stamp: as Impression ILT and Impression ILT XS Engraving: additional „H“ before the base curve engraving Lens envelope: Envelope label with corresponding official product name PBO Seminar Oktober 2004

ILT Hyperop “Technical product information“ Product details „…the design is particularly in tune with those who are very long sighted“ from 8 D there is no „solution“ for a selective lens. Very strong theoretic front surface - curvature in the plus field modern lenses are a compromise between good optics and cosmetics PBO Seminar Oktober 2004

ILT Hyperop “Technical product information“ Product details The non “point by point” refraction causes very high imaging errors especially with high SV plus lenses: Perfalit 1.5 BK 12.72 sph +11D Astigmatism in position of wear PBO Seminar Oktober 2004

ILT Hyperop “Technical product information“ Product details Example of a virtual, surface optimised progressive lens sph +11.0 D add 2.0 D Astigmatism in position of wear very small far field and basically no near field astigmatic faults in the near >1.5 D PBO Seminar Oktober 2004

ILT Hyperop “Technical product information“ Product details What solution does exist? An aspheric lens E.g.: Cosmolit sph +11.0dpt Astigmatism in position of wear Refractive power Correction of the high astigmatic powers Power decreases towards the outside => negative refractive error in the periphery cosmetically appearing products, reduction of the center height PBO Seminar Oktober 2004

ILT Hyperop “Technical product information“ Product details In order to reduce the aberrations in the periphery of progressive lenses, the focal power in the periphery of the distance must increase and the periphery of the near must decrease. Focal power Increase of the power in the distance Reduction of the power in the near PBO Seminar Oktober 2004

ILT Hyperop “Technical product information“ Product details Far The asperhic overlapping of the progressive surface has an increase in the focal power in the far as a result. The reduction of the power, which is caused by the oblique astigmatism, overlays the power increase that it results in a large distance field free of aberrations. Near In the near area the power decreases through aspheric overlaying and oblique astigmatism. This leads to a very small near field of vision. => In order to also offer strong hyperopic people a sufficiently big near field of vision, the ImpressionILT Hyperop has been developed. PBO Seminar Oktober 2004

ILT Hyperop “Technical product information“ Comparison of the new ImpressionILT Hyperop with the „normal“ ImpressionILT with the power range simply widened from +8 to +11dpt. „ Impression ILT “ sph +11.0 Add 2.50 ImpressionILT Hyperop sph +11.0 Add 2.50 Maximum peripheral astigmatism = ca. 10% to 15% higher clearly bigger field of vision steep and high rise of the peripheral aberrations PBO Seminar Oktober 2004

ILT Hyperop “Technical product information“ Product details Product advantages: The product marks itself out with: stabilising of the near field of vision stronger emphasis on the fields of vision, as the vision fields for collecting plus lenses are additionally small. and against conventional progressive lenses through: the individuality and the non existing base curve effect PBO Seminar Oktober 2004

ILT Hyperop “Technical product information“ Product details In the „overlapping area +6 to +8dpt“, „normal“ ImpressionILT and ImpressionILT Hyperop are similar. The weighting of the larger field of vision increases with growing plus powers. ImpressionILT sph +8.0 Add 2.0 ImpressionILT Hyperop sph +8.0 Add 2.0 PBO Seminar Oktober 2004

ILT Hyperop “Technical product information“ Product details Due to the strongly bent front surface and the high center thickness, for ImpressionILT Hyperop in higher plus ranges the concave measuring value for the addition is higher than the ordered value. This ensures, however, that the addition in the position of wear shows the determined value during the refraction. PBO Seminar Oktober 2004

ILT Hyperop “Technical product information“ Product comparison There is no competition in this high field of vision up to +13 D. PBO Seminar Oktober 2004

ILT Hyperop “Technical product information“ General hints for ordering mixed order of both product types (ImpressionILT and ImpressionILT Hyperop) are possible, eg with high anisometropia, however we recommend the ordering of a matching pair. MDM is included in the price of Impression ILT Hyperop and XS. The product can be pinned normally, MDM if desired has to be pinned separately. It is generally advantageous to order the lens with all individual parameters along with the frame and centring data, so that the real tilting of the lens in front of the eye can be taken into account. PBO Seminar Oktober 2004

ILT Hyperop “Technical product information“ Complaints Measuring of powers on the focimeter is not always possible due to the high prisms (up to 18cm/m) and the colour dispersion given in the near reference point. This is particularly the case with normal progression zone lengths and orders at the limits of the power range. In the case of complaints, please send the lenses to Mrs. Katrin Nicke in Munich, as there and in the production the especially equipped measuring instrument SPV1. ILT Hyperop has very flat rear surfaces, in order to keep the height of the lens as low as possible. => possibility of disturbing back surface reflections. PBO Seminar Oktober 2004

ILT Hyperop “Technical product information“ „Expandable delivery“ it is not possible to enlarge the range of power over +13.0dpt and under +6.0dpt. In contrast to other products, sph 0 cyl 6 is available (see diagram) Cylinders over 6dpt are not possible SPH/CYL 0.0 dpt +13.0 dpt +6.0 dpt +6.0 dpt +0.0 dpt PBO Seminar Oktober 2004

ILT Hyperop “Technical product information“ Recommendation: In the overlapping area of „normal“ ImpressionILT and ImpressionILT Hyperop, we recommend the ILT Hyperop due to the strong emphasis on the field of vision. PBO Seminar Oktober 2004
