Scientific Question What Construction paper (White or Black) will cause salt water to distill the fastest?

BackGround I choose this topic because I would like to see how to distill water. Because if you are stuck on a island that has no fresh water you need fresh water to live.Also I think it is cool to do this.

Hypothesis If you wrap a container full of salt water with white construction paper than the salt water will distill the fastest.

Variables Independent: The type of construction paper. Dependent: The amount of water Distilled. Constants: The amount of water and salt.Also the size of the bowls.

Procedure Put a piece of Construction paper. (White or Black)under a bowl Fill bowls with salt water leave under a heat lamp to distill Record how much water evaporated in oz. Repeat step 1-4 one time

Conclusion Which Paper will increase the rate of water distillation? My experiment will see which colored paper (white or Black) will make the rate of distillation faster. The data of the experiment is that the white paper made 1.5 oz. of water distill but the black made 1.0 oz. My Hypothesis was supported by the data because the white paper made the most water distill. I learned that white paper reflects light but black opposes it. One problem that I had was that the milk jugs didn’t work so i had to use a bowl.Also the molding clay would get warm and melt.
