FROSTBURG STATE UNIVERSITY'S AMERICAN COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY PRESIDENTS' CLIMATE COMMITMENT

TANGIBLE ACTIONS

GREEN POWER PRODUCTION OR PURCHASING ACTION IMPLEMENTED FSU PARTICIPATED WITH THE D. C. CONSORTIUM AND SIGNED CONTRACTS APRIL 18TH TO BEGIN PURCHASING REC’S EQUAL TO 15% OF THE UNIVERSITY’S TOTAL ELECTRIC CONSUMPTION. POWER TO BE 100% WIND CERTIFIED.

WASTE MINIMIZATION ACTION IMPLEMENTED FSU PARTICIPATED IN THE WASTE MINIMIZATION COMPONENT OF THE NATIONAL RECYLCE MANIA COMPETITION PLACING 21ST OF 95 SCHOOLS COMPETING IN THE WHOLE CAMPUS CATEGORY. ALSO ADOPTED 3 ASSOCIATED MEASURES TO REDUCE WASTE.

ENERGY STAR PROCUREMENT POLICY ACTION SELECTED AN ENERGY-EFFICIENT APPLIANCE PURCHASING POLICY HAS BEEN DRAFTED, BUT NOT YET IMPLEMENTED.

GREEN BUILDING POLICY FSU ASSUMES THAT ALL NEW BUILDING AND MAJOR RENOVATIONS WILL SEEK AT A MINIMUM LEED “SILVER” STANDARDS OR CERTIFICATION FROM THE USGBC. WILL FOLLOW STATE OF MARYLAND AND USM SYSTEM LEAD.
