Final Health Project Caleb Conner
What is my health project on? I chose to do my final project on 3 common unhealthy gym behaviors I chose this because when I go to the gym, I see lots of people that either don’t know what they are doing, don’t know how to do it, or are at the gym for reasons other than working out. Some of these unhealthy behaviors can seriously hurt you, and some will just result in a poor workout.
Bad Habit #1
Bad habit #1 If you go to use a machine, KNOW WHAT IT IS FOR! If you aren’t sure, it's ok to ask for help Using a machine or weights for anything other than its intended use can result in serious injury If you don’t know what a machine does, chances are you do not need to use it
Bad Habit #2
Bad Habit #2 Don’t skip leg day. Period. Skipping a certain type of exercise won’t hurt you, but it makes the workout not as effective in the long run. A well-rounded individual works on all muscle groups Don’t be “that guy”
Bad Habit #3
Bad Habit #3 1 protein shake= Gains! 10 protein shakes= constipation. It is ok to take a supplement to workout. They can can help you recover quicker and get more out of your workout. Taking a pre-workout, then BCAA’s, then Protein, then a post-workout (which isn’t too uncommon) can have serious side effects High caffeine/energy + 20 supplements will hurt you more than it will help you.
Conclusion To have a healthy, safe, and productive time at the gym, follow these tips. 1. Know what you are planning to do, have a program, and follow it. 2. If you are unsure how to work a specific muscle or unsure how a machine works, ask for help. Those people who work at the gym get paid for a reason 3. Know what you are putting into your body. This means both food and supplements. Eat a well balanced meal, or take the right supplements in the suggested serving sizes 4. If you are thinking about a serious exercise plan, diet, or lifestyle change, talk to a physical fitness advisor or a doctor.
