Bellwork: “Intro to DBQ” Expansion has always been a part of America’s history. At first, American expansion headed towards the Pacific within North America. In the 1700’s and 1800’s, European nations began practicing imperialism, which is when a stronger nation takes control of another nation for resources and new markets. The United States began to look to the Caribbean and Pacific for territories with profitable resources and new markets for manufactured goods. 1.
