What is the Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl?

What is the Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl? Mrs. Helen Ruffin created the Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl to be a reading competition in game format. She wanted to have teams of students from different schools compete to test their knowledge of the selected books. The Reading Bowl takes place in Cobb County each year, in late January/early February. Competitors read the chapter book nominees for the Georgia Book Award. Students compete on factual knowledge of these books.

What is the Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl? The winners of the Cobb County Reading Bowl will proceed to the regional Reading Bowl competition. The Georgia Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl is open to students in grades four through 12 across the state. The competition is all about recognizing readers and sharing the love of reading. Each school can send a team of 10 students to compete in the Reading Bowl.
