Warm-Up: How is oil created?

Oil & the History of Oil Oil or petroleum is viscous black liquid used a fuel source; it is created by the remains of organic matter (dead plants/animals) under pressure over thousands of years.

Step 1- List which products are created from oil:

Step 2 Read about the history and discovery of oil in Texas on the back and answer the following in complete sentences. 1. What happened at Spindletop? 2. Why is oil considered so valuable? 3. How did oil ultimately help Texas economically? 4. What industries in Texas rely on cheap oil? 5. How might oil be helpful to a country at a time of war?
