About Us The Local Government Administrators of the Northwest Territories (LGANT) is a professional organization comprised of senior administrative staff of community governments throughout the Northwest Territories The Mission of LGANT is to strive for and promote excellence and professionalism in the field of local government administration through awareness, education and career development

Who we are LGANT represents Local Government Administrators from all 33 NWT communities. This includes Senior Administrative Officers (SAOs), Town Managers, City Administrator, CAOs, and Band Managers of Designated Authorities LGANT invites Associate Memberships from other community government senior management staff, and senior management staff from other governments and agencies with an interest in local government administration

2017 Highlights Board of Directors weekend retreat in February 2017 produced a renewed 2017/22 LGANT strategic plan Formal Discussions with INAC NWT Region and the NWT Band Managers Working Group exploring opportunities for First Nations Band Managers’ involvement with LGANT Exploratory Discussions with the Inuvialuit Regional Corporation (IRC) and Inuvialuit Community Corporation Managers on participation in LGANT activities

2017/22 LGANT Strategic Plan LGANT’s Vision is being recognized for excellence in providing support and professional development for its members LGANT’s Mission is working with partners, promoting excellence & professionalism, creating awareness, as well as building & supporting capacity of NWT local government administrators

2017/22 LGANT Strategic Plan Three Core Values guide LGANT in pursing its vision and mission: Service to members - we value service that is respectful, responsive, knowledgeable and accountable Leadership – we value ethical behaviour & professionalism and foster excellence, cooperation and partnership as well as promote the professional role of the LGA Adaptability – we value adaptability and flexibility to help us respond to a changing environment, the evolving needs of members, and the need to remain sustainable

2022 Aspired Future LGANT will be a sustainable organization by 2022, working in partnership with key strategic partners to deliver on its mission and provide services to its members LGANT will continue to pursue key strategic partnerships with MACA, INAC, IRC, the NWTAC and CAMA for success in areas of mutual interest in the future

2022 Aspired Future LGANT will pursue specific goals in continuing to deliver on its mission statement: Support highly professional SAOs in every community by: Promoting Best Hiring Practices Working toward certification of all SAOs SAO capacity building in project management, ATIP compliance and other emerging issues Use of technology for delivery of online training tools and distance education Influence national consideration of northern LGA issues through involvement in CAMA and its Board of Directors
