Science Planner 3/7/17 WALT: investigate the Rock Cycle. WU: It took 37 years for the Toutle River to cut a canyon 167 ft deep. How many feet per year is this? CW: Vocabulary and Diagram Read Pages 119 – 122, Lesson Review Page 123, Questions 1-10

Vocabulary: Rock Cycle – processes that change one type of rock into another type of rock. Example: Igneous to Sedimentary Rock – a natural, solid mixture of minerals or grains. Grains – Fragments that make up a rock. Texture – the grain size and the way grains fit together. Sediment – is rock material that forms where rocks are broken down into smaller pieces, or dissolved in water. Extrusive rocks – when volcanic material erupts and cools above ground. Intrusive rocks - Igneous rocks that form as magma cools underground.

Rock Cycle: Constant Change over time.
