Readathon February Half Term

What do you do in a sponsored read? You ask friends and family to sponsor you for reading as much as you can. You can choose whatever you like to read – stories, comics, classics, non-fiction, newspapers, recipes, e-books and audio books – anything goes! Get sponsored for every 30 minutes you spend reading.

Remember, never ask strangers to sponsor you! How do I get sponsored? You have been given your own sponsor form. Fill in your name and class and begin to collect your sponsors and how much they would be happy to sponsor you for, for every 30 minutes that you read. As you read, fill in on the back of the form, the title of the book, the author, and how long you have spent reading it. Remember, never ask strangers to sponsor you!

What will the money be used for? The money you raise will help us to buy lots of new books for your classrooms to be read during your Reading for Pleasure sessions. It will be lovely to have lots of wonderful new books!

What’s in it for me? AND IT’S FUN!!! I can try different books, authors, types of reading to find out what I like the most. My school will get lots of new books! Children who choose to read for fun are more likely to be successful and happy throughout their lives. AND IT’S FUN!!!

I’m in – what next? Choose what you would most like to read. Remember – anything counts! Ask your family to sponsor you. Try to read as often as you can! Encourage your friends to get involved.
