Source Transformation: is a technique that allow a voltage source in series with a resistor to be replaced with a current source in parallel With the same resistor, or vice versa.

 

Note a resistance parallel with the voltage source, or in series with the current Source, have no effect on the equivalent circuits at terminals a and b.
