Core Competency self-reflection January

LEARNING TARGETS I CAN... Show my understanding of the creative thinking competency. Reflect on how I demonstrate creative thinking in my classes at KSS and outside of school.

Creative Thinking vs. Critical Thinking Creative thinking is a way of looking at problems or situations from a fresh perspective to conceive of something new or original. Critical thinking is the logical, sequential disciplined process of rationalizing, analyzing, evaluating, and interpreting information to make informed judgments and/or decisions. http://thepeakperformancecenter.com

CRITICAL THINKING CREATIVE THINKING Analytical Generative Convergent Logical Sequential Objective Reasoning Vertical Judgemental Hypothesis testing Close-ended CREATIVE THINKING Generative Divergent Intuitive Imaginative Subjective Speculating Lateral Non-judgemental Hypothesis forming Open-ended http://thepeakperformancecenter.com

Is/Is Not? Following plans to make a toolbox in metal work. Drawing a picture using an existing picture as a template. Practicing lines for a play using a script. Using a McDonald’s restaurant to represent the different parts of a living cell. Explaining a math problem to a peer in a way they understand. Making a colourful poster showing different types of chemical reactions. Developing a program to prioritize commitments (homework, job, social etc.) Troubleshooting a malfunction in a vehicle system.
