PRESENTATION TO ALLEVIATE DUMPING FEES Presented by: Mary J. McGoffin, CEO, Skagit Community Foundation Teresa Pugh, Executive Director, Skagit Habitat for Humanity Megan Anderson, Executive Director, Skagit Gleaners Peter Cisneros, Chief Operations Officer, Bargains Galore Thrift Store

TOTAL 2018 DUMPING FEES FOR ORGANIZATIONS * This does not include City of Mount Vernon fees for dumpsters. Skagit Gleaners - $1,555.91 Skagit Habitat for Humanity - $5,542.51 Bargains Galore Thrift Store - $1,263.21

BENEFITS OF RECYCLING TO SKAGIT COUNTY All of our organizations do our best to recycle between each other. For example, weekly Bargains Galore Thrift Store and Skagit Habitat for Humanity sends or has picked up all items such as clothing, linens, shoes, purses, etc to Skagit Gleaners thereby making sure these items don’t have to go to the landfill. This, in turn, saves on landfill space needed while also providing affordable items to those in need in our community.

BENEFITS OF RECYCLING TO SKAGIT COUNTY Skagit Habitat for Humanity donates to other non-profit organizations items that we do not sell in the Store as well while also having a 'free bin' for items that do not sell before we have to take them to the Skagit County Transfer Station. The tonnage that Skagit Habitat for Humanity has saved from the landfill is: 2,780 + tons. Skagit County charges $89 per ton. This saved our donors $247,420.00 in dump fees as well as these items are recycled, not thrown into the landfill.
