Student Drop Off Kindergarten is a huge transition for both students and parents. To help ensure a smooth and successful transition, we encourage you to leave your child in the gym before the assembly, rather than walking them down the hallway to class every day. (1st day is an exception)

Morning Assembly Students will meet in the gym each morning at 7:55. It is important for students to be here for announcements, pledges, and brags.

Attendance Attendance is very important at any grade level. Having your child at school on time will help them be more successful. If they are constantly absent or tardy, they are missing out on valuable instruction time.

Student Pick UP If you are planning to pick your student up, you will pull through the drive at the front of the building. Please keep your student name card visible in your vehicle to aid in the smooth process of getting all students where they need to be. If you have any change of transportation, you need to call the front office NO LATER than 2:30 to ensure your child gets home the way you intend.

Breakfast Breakfast is served from 7:30 – 7:50. Students need to arrive NO LATER than 7:50 if they plan to eat breakfast. Breakfast costs $1.25, but subject to change.

Lunch Students may bring their own lunch, or purchase one in the cafeteria. Money can be sent (in a labeled envelope or ziploc) in the students’ folders or you can go online to www.ezschoolpay.com to pay your child’s lunch expenses. (Link on website) If your child accumulates more than a $12 negative balance, they will be offered an alternative meal. Each day students are given four lunch choices to choose from. A menu is available on the school website. If your student brings their own lunch, we ask that you please not send soda or candy with them.

Snacks Afternoon snacks are greatly appreciated by the students. We ask that parents volunteer to send snacks throughout the year for the class. When sending snacks, please think of healthy options such as fruits, cereal, crackers, apple sauce, etc. Please do not send cookies or candy for snacks.

Kindergarten Readiness Is my child ready for Kindergarten? Maturity - Separates from parent/guardian - Sits and listens to a story - Follows 1-2 step directions - Can work independently Self-Help Skills - Puts on coat and shoes - Use the restroom independently Fine Motor Skills - Buttons, zips, and ties own shoes - Cuts with Scissors - Holds a pencil correctly

Kindergarten Readiness Is my child ready for Kindergarten? Your child will grow leaps and bounds in their knowledge throughout their Kindergarten year. In order to aid in their success, please work with them this summer on the Kindergarten Readiness Packet we have provided. We have also provided a checklist for you to see areas in which your child might need to focus.

Parent and Teacher Communication Communication between parents and teachers is vital in the success of any child. Daily Take Home Folder Each night your child will bring home their take home folder with papers from that day. Please check your child’s folder every night. A communication log is included in each folder. We encourage you to write notes such as changes of transportation in this location. Class Dojo I personally use Class Dojo in my classroom. This is an app that tracks behavior, both positive and negative. This allows the teacher and parent to send messages to each other for reminders, newsletters, etc. If your child is in my classroom, I highly encourage you to download the app and sign up to view their account.

Reading Makes a Difference

Bedtime and naps Bedtime is an important routine that needs to be started with your child immediately. Getting your child on a schedule now will allow them to have a smooth transition and adjust to Kindergarten easier. We do not have nap time in Kindergarten. It is recommended you try getting your child used to being awake all day without taking naps so it is not a huge adjustment when they start school.

Meet the Teacher and School Supplies Meet the teacher is a very important event for your child to attend. This gives them the opportunity to meet their teacher, look around their classroom, and meet some new friends before the first day of school. We request that you bring all classroom supplies listed on the supply list to meet the teacher so that we can organize and store materials before the first day of school.

Important dates - Meet the Teacher – August 16th - 1st Day of School – August 21st - Elementary School Hours: 7:55 – 3:35
