Interfacing Motion Sensor with PIC Microcontroller Jacaqueta Davis Brock Dickinson Michael Ledet
Objective The objective of this project is to build is to use the knowledge we have gained to build a low cost motion detection device that will detect a human entering or exiting an area in order to create a better security system. This will be done, specifically, with a PIC microcontroller and an optical sensor.
Equipment PIC microcontroller Pinhole camera Networking interface Additional basic electronic components 3D printer Equipment
Basic Outline of Steps Involved Order parts Design circuit(s) on paper/software Test all parts for compatibility Build device Develop code Test and modify until perfect Design and 3D print housing Encase in housing and present
Potential Obstacles There will be several unexpected troubleshooting and bug fixes, which we have dedicated time reserved. There may be some difficulty linking the device to a network interface. The lasers and receivers being used to detect the actual motion will need a lot of tuning as to not be too sensitive. Could cause system to be inadequate. Alternative power source could prove to be a waste of time.
