Lesson 3 Getting help and getting credit In High School Course: Preparing for College & Career

Getting Help. Earning Credit. How do I get help with this course? How can I get high school credit for the course? In this lesson you’ll find answers to the questions: - How do I get help with this course? - How can I get high school credit for this course?

Be proactive. Ask for Help. Instructor - course work questions ALC - questions about course tools When you’re unsure about what to do, there are several ways to get help. First reread directions and all information in the lesson or assignment. Figure out what you still need help with, then be proactive and contact the right person. If you are unsure about any of the learning activities, the instructor is the right person to contact by email. Click on INBOX on the navigation bar in the top right of each course page. Then click the icon to compose a new email. On the pop-up window, select the instructor. There will be several listed. Choose the name of the instructor that emailed to welcome you. Write a specific subject, such as Help with Unit 5 Lesson 1 Then type a clear message, using full sentences. Sign it by writing your full name.   You can use the Contact ALC form by clicking on Contact Us in the Menu. The Contact Adventist Learning Community page gives you space to type an email. Write clear sentences. Include the URL of the page where you had trouble or include a screen shot and time when you saw this message.

High School Credit Options Your School Griggs International Academy Ask counselor or registrar. Show course overview & syllabus. Get written approval with Number of elective credits (0.5?) What units, if not all, to complete What evidence will be accepted 0.5 credits with form & recording fee. Note in Let’s Get Acquainted. Complete ALL coursework. Fill in GIA Credit Request. Email form to instructor. Request GIA transcript. While we hope you will find the entire course valuable, you could do just one unit or several. If you choose to do the entire course, you have two options to earn elective credit towards your high school diploma requirements. There are two ways to earn credit: through your school, or through Griggs International Academy.   Here are the steps you’d follow to earn credit through your school. First, you could ask your school counselor or registrar if they would award credit if you took the class. Always ask before you enroll in the class, so you can make an informed choice. Print copies of the Course Overview and the Syllabus, as these provide concise information about the learning outcomes and activities. Discuss how much of the course you must complete and the number of elective credits you will receive. As this course will take 70 or more hours to complete, it is worthy of 0.5 Carnegie units or ½ a credit. The other option is to apply for Griggs International Academy credit. You may pay the recording fee for 0.5 units, or credits. Be sure to note this in your Let’s Get Acquainted worksheet, or email and let your instructor know you’re committed to finishing all in a timely manner. Once all the coursework is complete, you’re ready to fill in your part of the GIA Credit Request, and follow directions to send the form to your instructor. Your instructor can verify you completed all work with a grade of C or above. Then you can send it in with payment of the recording fee. Once recorded you’ll be able to request your GIA transcript at any time in the future.

Use the course tools to do your best. results By completing all activities in unit 1, you will have built the foundation for the rest of this course. Review any of these how-to-lessons whenever needed. You can use the course tools to do your best. Use the course tools to do your best.
