New NCAA Eligibility Standards Effective for 2016 Graduating Class

Eligibility Center Information NCAA has returned eligibility clearinghouse to an “in-house “ mechanism 185,000 students register each year-only 90,000 are certified Common Core will impact all student athletes

Core Courses Division I- 16 core courses 10 MUST be completed before the beginning of the 7th semester 7 MUST be English, Math or Natural or Physical Science These 10 core courses are “locked in” at the 7th semester and CANNOT be retaken for grade improvement Division II-beginning Aug.1,2013 will require 16 Core Courses

DI 16 Core Courses 4 English 3 Math (Algebra I or higher) 2 Natural/Physical Science(1 lab if offered) 1 additional of above 2 Social Science 4 additional courses(any above, foreign language, or comparative religion/philosophy)

DII Core Courses 3 English 2 Math( Algebra I or higher) 2 Natural/Physical Science( one lab if offered) 3 additional from above 2 Social Science 4 additional(from above, foreign language, or comparativereligion/philosophy)

New Eligibility Standards On or After August 1, 2016 there will be 3 catagories: Full qualifier Academic Redshirt Non-qualifer

Full Qualifier Completes 16 Core Courses as earlier outlined Minimum 2.3 GPA( no repeated “locked in “ courses) Meet sliding GPA/Test Score requirements(NEW SCALE) Graduate from High School

Academic Redshirt Eligible for athletic aid but NOT eligible to compete MUST be “academically successful” during first term in college to continue as Academic Redshirt Complete 16 Core Courses as outlined Minimum 2.00 GPA Meet Sliding Scale requirement for Academic Redshirt(NEW) Graduate from High School

Non-Qualifier Does not meet ALL of the requirements as Qualifier or Redshirt Cannot receive athletic aid, practice or compete in the first year of enrollment

Non-Traditional Courses NT Courses must be comparable in length, content and rigor to traditional courses. Students MAY NOT skip or test out of modules. Must be 4 year college preparatory. MUST include ongoing access between instructor and student, as well as regular interaction fro purposes of teaching, evaluating and providing assistance. For example, e-mails, feedback on assignments and individual instruction. (Seat time) MUST have a defined time period for completion. MUST be clearly identified on transcript

Time Frame for Application Courses completed on or after August 1, 2010 for students entering college after that date.
