What we’re talking about What is the performance pie What are the pieces? The Performance Analysis Check Sheet

Factors of Performance

Performance Analysis Checklist Position:______________ Task:________________ Knowledge and Skill Is training provided? Could they do it if their lives depended on it? Did they ever perform the task properly. Capacity Do they have the mental capacity? Do they have the physical capacity? Do they have the prerequisites for training? Standards Do they know what to do? Do they know when to do it? Do their supervisors agree on what and when? Measurement Is performance measured. Are measurements based on task performance. Are the measurements objective. Feedback Are they informed about how they are doing? Is feedback tied to performance? Is feedback given by someone who matters? Conditions Is enough time available? Are the all the right tools and equipment available? Are task procedures clear, workable and as simple as possible. Incentives Is there incentive for performing well? Is “punishment for good performance” prevented? Are all available incentives being used?

Summary Performance issues need to be dealt with Not every performance issue requires the same type of intervention This is a diagnostic tool it does not solve the problem, you now have more work to do … sorry bout that
