What is the Effect? In summer 2019, when the new letter grades are awarded, the A* will be adjusted to reflect the Grade 9. This will mean that there will be proportionally fewer A* grades from 2019. The introduction of the Grade C* will also reduce the number of B grades. The Grade B will align with the Grade 6 in the numeric scale. Fewer A* and fewer B grades will make these grades more meaningful and allows for greater differentiation among higher achieving students. I have included a more detailed document in your folder to give you the CCEA take on how this will work out in Summer 2019
