Meditation Wesley’s Covenant Invitation Commit yourselves to Christ as his servants. Give yourselves to Christ that you may belong to Christ. Christ has many services to be done. Some are more easy and honorable, others are more difficult and disgraceful. Some are suitable to our inclinations and interests, others are contrary to both. In some we may please Christ and please ourselves. But then there are other works where we cannot please Christ except by denying ourselves. It is necessary, therefore, that we consider what it means to be a servant of Christ.

Musical Prelude Bringing in the Light of Christ

Call to Worship One: Let us, therefore, go to Christ, and pray Many: Let me be your servant, under your command. I will no longer be my own. I will give up myself to your will in all things..

All SING: We three kings of Orient are;  bearing gifts we traverse afar,  field and fountain, moor and mountain,  following yonder star.  O star of wonder, star of light,  star with royal beauty bright,  westward leading, still proceeding,  guide us to thy perfect light.

MEN SING: Born a King on Bethlehem's plain,  gold I bring to crown him again,  King forever, ceasing never,  over us all to reign.  O star of wonder, star of light,  star with royal beauty bright,  westward leading, still proceeding,  guide us to thy perfect light.

WOMEN SING: Frankincense to offer have I;  incense owns a Deity nigh;  prayer and praising, voices raising,  worshiping God on high. O star of wonder, star of light,  star with royal beauty bright,  westward leading, still proceeding,  guide us to thy perfect light.

ALL SING: Myrrh is mine; its bitter perfume  breathes a life of gathering gloom;  sorrowing, sighing, bleeding, dying,  sealed in the stone-cold tomb.  O star of wonder, star of light,  star with royal beauty bright,  westward leading, still proceeding,  guide us to thy perfect light.

ACAPELLA: Glorious now behold him arise;  King and God and sacrifice:  Alleluia, Alleluia,  sounds through the earth and skies.  O star of wonder, star of light,  star with royal beauty bright,  westward leading, still proceeding,  guide us to thy perfect light.

Lighting of the Christ Candle One: Be satisfied that Christ shall give you your place and work.

Opening Prayer Lord, make me what you will. I put myself fully into your hands: put me to doing, put me to suffering, let me be employed for you, or laid aside for you, let me be full, let me be empty, let me have all things, let me have nothing. I freely and with a willing heart give it all to your pleasure and disposal.

Scripture Reading Matthew 2:1-12 2 In the time of King Herod, after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, 2 asking, “Where is the child who has been born king of the Jews? For we observed his star at its rising, and have come to pay him homage.” 3 When King Herod heard this, he was frightened, and all Jerusalem with him;

Scripture Reading Matthew 2:1-12  4 and calling together all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Messiah was to be born. 5 They told him, “In Bethlehem of Judea; for so it has been written by the prophet: 6 ‘And you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for from you shall come a ruler who is to shepherd my people Israel.’”

Scripture Reading Matthew 2:1-12 7 Then Herod secretly called for the wise men and learned from them the exact time when the star had appeared. 8 Then he sent them to Bethlehem, saying, “Go and search diligently for the child; and when you have found him, bring me word so that I may also go and pay him homage.” 9 When they had heard the king, they set out; and there, ahead of them, went the star that they

Scripture Reading Matthew 2:1-12 had seen at its rising, until it stopped over the place where the child was. 10 When they saw that the star had stopped, they were overwhelmed with joy. 11 On entering the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother; and they knelt down and paid him homage. Then, opening their treasure chests, they offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

Scripture Reading Matthew 2:1-12  12 And having been warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they left for their own country by another road.

I Want to Walk as a Child of the Light *Hymn I Want to Walk as a Child of the Light Hymnal # 237  Used By Permission. CCLI License # 11148194

I want to walk as a child of the light; I want to follow Jesus  I want to walk as a child of the light;  I want to follow Jesus.  God set the stars to give light to the world;  The star of my life is Jesus. In him there is no darkness at all;  The night and the day are both alike.  The Lamb is the light of the city of God.  Shine in my heart, Lord Jesus.

I want to see the brightness of God; I want to look at Jesus I want to see the brightness of God;  I want to look at Jesus.  Clear Sun of Righteousness, shine on my path  And show me the way to the Father. In him there is no darkness at all;  The night and the day are both alike.  The Lamb is the light of the city of God.  Shine in my heart, Lord Jesus.

I’m looking for the coming of Christ; I want to be with Jesus I’m looking for the coming of Christ;  I want to be with Jesus.  When we have run with patience the race,  We shall know the joy of Jesus. In him there is no darkness at all;  The night and the day are both alike.  The Lamb is the light of the city of God.  Shine in my heart, Lord Jesus.

Benediction
