TOUR ESSENTIALS DEPARTURE: Friday 19 June 2015 Meet from Markwell Carpark (JPC) at 6:00am– bus will transport students to Brisbane Domestic Terminal for direct flight to Canberra ARRIVAL: Tuesday 23 June 2015 Arrive at Brisbane Domestic Airport at 8:15pm – bus to transport all students back to Markwell Carpark (JPC) by approximately 9:15pm ACCOMODATION: Golden Age Motor Inn CANBERRA TRANSPORT: Murrays Coaches

DROPPING OFF AND PICKING UP STUDENTS On Friday 19 June– Bus will leave promptly at 6:30am All students are required to be at school at 6.00am at Markwell Carpark. Students to line up with their luggage at their tour group colour and teacher. Students are required to wear formal uniform (no hats) On Tuesday 23 June– Students will arrive back at the College at around 9:15pm. The bus will park at Security at Markwell Car park for pick up by parents.

AIRLINE: Flights and times All students will arrive at school to travel to the airport by bus together on Friday morning. Students are to meet at Markwell Carpark at 6:00am. All students will be picked up together from the airport by bus to arrive back at Markwell Carpark on Tuesday evening. Departure: Arrival: Airline Flight no. BAG TAGS AND TICKETS All e-tickets will remain with the College and will be issued to students at the airport to and from Canberra. All students will receive a bag tag with the College logo and QANTAS Group Bag Tags, please add these tags to the luggage so that all student bags are visible at a distance. When boarding the coaches for the Airport, students will receive a laminated pocket sized card which will include information and contact numbers should they need to contact a teacher, the accommodation or the College.

COACH ON TOUR Murrays Coaches have organised our itinerary for the entire trip. Murrays drivers have always been very professional, friendly and informative. Our Murrays driver will be with us for the duration of the tour whilst in Canberra.

ACCOMODATION: GOLDEN AGE MOTOR INN All students will be staying at the Golden Age Motor Inn. Students will be located across two levels with staff located throughout to ensure optimal supervision and access. Great meals throughout the touring catering for a range of dietary requirements. Rooms are heated and well serviced. Staff are friendly and helpful.

GROUPINGS Students will be split into four groups – each is a certain colour and will have 1 teacher with 10-11 students Same groups for the duration of the trip. Students will attend most venues as 1 tour group (all four mini groups); however, certain activities will require the tour group to be split into 2 groups.

ZOO – IMPORTANT INFORMATION There may be a chance that your child will be given the opportunity to feed one of the animals. If you would like your child to participate in this opportunity, please collect an indemnity form at the end of this session. The form needs to be completed then handed back to Ms Rosie Sciacca before boarding the bus to depart for Canberra.

PREPARING CLOTHES FOR COLD WEATHER Temperatures in Canberra range from -5°C during the night to 15°C during the day. Layering clothes is best during activities. Students may wear black or burgundy gloves or scarf with their formal uniform. Nearly all venues are heated

CLOTHING EXPECTATIONS Please remember to name all items! Formal uniform should be worn correctly with formal jumper and / or burgundy ski jacket Ladies may wear stockings additionally with socks Gentlemen may wear long trousers Singlets and thermal underwear may be worn but should not be visible Free dress selections should always follow guidelines that we adhere to for free dress days at the College. Layer clothing as most venues are heated. Boots, parka and pants for trip to the snow will be provided – other warm items should be brought (eg beanie, gloves, scarf).

WHAT TO BRING - ESSENTIALS Formal Uniform (NO HAT REQUIRED) Free Dress Clothes + Hat Beanie & Thermals & Socks Undergarments Appropriate shoes (including non-marking sports shoes) Lip balm – a very necessary item No hand-luggage – students may pack a small back pack inside their suitcase with a water bottle (empty) and spending money (will be attending the Canberra Centre for lunch upon arrival in Canberra).

MOBILE PHONES Students may not bring mobile phones on the Canberra Trip and are not required on any camps as per College Policy. At many venues on the tour, mobile phones are not permitted such as Parliament House and Government House for security reasons. Our trip is for learning and for students to engage in discussion with each other; to also form strong relationships between students and this is further embraced without technology

This page and its contents will not be visible to the global community and will be exclusive to our tour.

FIRST AID AND MEDICATION All staff have First Aid qualifications Ms Rosie Sciacca will perform the duty of First Aid Officer, monitoring and maintaining First Aid and Medication Logs All medication must be secured in a resealable bag and contain specific instructions and be clearly labelled with name and dosage. This is to be handed to Rosie Sciacca prior to boarding buses for departure.

SAFETY AND SECURITY Your child’s safety and wellbeing is our number one priority. Each child will have contact numbers for staff members and other key numbers Rolls will be taken to ensure student presence. Effective teacher-student ratios (1:10 / 1:11 for groups with an additional teacher to support all groups) Teachers strategically placed throughout the venue to be available to students throughout the night.

FAQ’S What amount of money can my child take? $100 for spending money should be ample Students may access souvenir shops when they are open at the venue and may purchase gifts or souvenirs for family and themselves Popular venues include AIS, ZOO, War Memorial, QUESTACON Apart from lunch on the first day and optional snacks, all other food is covered in the cost of the tour Can my child bring a camera? Yes, digital or disposable Will the school carry items like basic first aid and over the counter medication? Yes – please ensure that you have given permission for these types of medication on the medical form

FAQ’S Do the kids need to pack sleeping gear? No, this is provided by the accommodation Do the kids need to pack snow gear? Boots, parka and pants provided by The Ski Company - Cooma. Thermals, beanie, scarf and gloves would be useful to pack. Insurance? Yes, there is travel insurance provided through the College. Can I drop my child directly at the airport on Friday morning? / Can I pick up my child from the airport on Tuesday evening? All students must travel to and from the airport on the bus as with all camps and excursions
