Transformational Leadership Identifies and articulates a vision Fosters the acceptance of group goals Conveys high performance expectations Provides appropriate models Provides individual support Provides intellectual stimulation Builds a productive school culture Helps structure school to enhance participation in decisions Research Questions: What kinds of leadership practices of school administrators contribute significantly to OL, and to the Conditions which foster OL? Are these practices consistent with the initial Transformational Leadership Model? #8 (last) More teachers talked about Leadership influences on this aspect of school structure than on any other school condition: several noted that P’s made unilateral decisions when warranted for efficiency encouraged participation on commttees, supported committee sstructure by being actively involved, or spear-heading, or by organizing 1/3rd ofP’s shared power and responsibility: asking t’s to give workshops, lead staff mtgs.. help manage budget, delegating duties to V-P #5: “ind. support”: Most teachers in all case study schools said P. supported their Prof. Lng: $, books, furniture, materials, release time, scheduling help, sharing inform., collecting asnd distributing info., finding speakers MOral Support: Listening. accessible, fair open, respectful, concern for persoinal feelings, sympathetic, offering positive reinforcement, encouragement to take risks, signs of leaders’ appreciation were reported to build collaborative culture.
