Climate Regions What factors combine to create a global pattern? Temperature, precipitation, wind What are global patterns? Patterns made up of temperature, rain, wind, etc. Rain falls frequently near the equator. Temps are coldest at the poles. How do global patterns make up Climate Regions? Similar patterns make up climate regions.

Types of Climate Regions Tropical Wet – Climates combine hot temperatures and heavy rainfall year round. They are clustered around the Equator. Tropical Wet and Dry – Climates have a wet season in summer and a dry season in winter. Humid Subtropical – Climates have year-round precipitation with mild winters and hot summer.

Types of Climate Regions Continental Warm Summer – Climates have year round precipitation, warm summers, and cold, snowy winters. Continental Cool Summer – Climates are similar to Warm Summer, but they have generally lower temperatures. Maritime – Climates are wet year round, with mild winters and cool summers. They exist where moist winds blow onshore.

Type of Climate Regions Mediterranean – climates have hot, dry weather in the summer and a rainy season in the winter. Semiarid – climates are dry with little moisture desert areas with steadily sinking air. Arid – climates are very dry desert areas with steadily sinking air.

Types of Climate Regions Subarctic – Climates have limited precipitation, cool summers, and very cold winters Tundra - Climates have cool summers and bitterly cold, dry winters. Close to the poles and ice caps/, Ice Cap – Climates are at the poles have permanent sheets of ice covering land or sea, have bitter cold and dry climates year-round.
