Fig 1 Hypothetical representation of 2 separate developmental pathways present in persistent asthma, one sensitive (left side) and the other insensitive (right side) to ICSs. These pathways would determine ongoing symptom-related inflammation and deficits in lung function growth and potentially “airway remodeling,” respectively.
