Penemuan Program R&D UPM Salah satu kejayaan dalam program R&D UPM, ialah penemuan produk AJIB NPK yang telah dilancarkan pada 4 November 2008 oleh YB Menteri Pengajian Tinggi. Pada tahun 2009, teknologi agglomerasi dari German telah digunakan untuk menghasilkan baja AJIB NPK SRF iaitu baja lepas perlahan (Slow-release fertilizer), yang lebih efisien dan efektif.

UNSUR PERLU Unsur-unsur yang diperlukan oleh tumbuhan untuk melengkapkan pusingan kehidupannya. (Brady and Weil, 2002)

AJIB® NPK SRF 10:10:10:2 + 5% Micronutrients

ASAS AJIB NPK SRF AJIB NPK mengandungi “enzyme activators” yang menambahkan pengeluaran tandan dan menyuburkan debunga. Kandungan baja AJIB NPK adalah berasaskan NPK dan mikronutrien (B, Cu, Zn, Mn, Fe, Cl, Mo, Co) yang terkandung dalam Buah Tandan Segar (BTS).

Kelebihan Meningkatkan kesuburan bunga jantan dan betina. Berpotensi meningkatkan kadar O.E.R. Meningkatkan ketahanan pokok terhadap penyakit (Ganoderma).

Why Slow-Released Fertilizer (SRF)? Slow-Release fertilizers (SRF) are mostly use on high-value crops, but the technology may be adapted for general agriculture in developing countries (IFDC Report, March 2009)

Advantages of SRF Increase fertilizer efficiency and crop yield. Reduce losses of nutrients through leaching, runoff, volatilization, and denitrification. Save time, labor, and energy. (IFDC Report, 2009)

Nutrients Contributing to Lignin Synthesis Cu - Impaired lignification of cell walls is the most typical anatomical change induced by Cu deficiency in higher plant (Marschner, 1995, Fairhurst and Hardter, 2003). Mn and Cu are required for biosynthesis of lignin in root tissue (Graham and Webb, 1992). B has long been associated with lignin biosynthesis, and boron deficiency may impair lignin formation (Datoff et. al, 2007) 41
