Martin MATH 6A – PER 2 & 6 SCIENCE/HEALTH – PER 3 & 5 PIRATE COLLEGE ACADEMY Period 4 STANDARD SDAP 3.1 Represent all possible outcomes for compound events in an organized way. Health Expectations 1 to 8. Students will explore the harmful effects of cigarette smoking and using smokeless tobacco, the process of addiction, and the dangers of secondhand smoke. 3NS3.4 Know and understand that fractions and decimals are two different representations of the same concept. LEARNING OBJECTIVE Use multiplication to count outcomes and find probabilities. Find the number of permutations of a set of objects and find probabilities. Students will explain ways to stay tobacco free and recognize healthy alternatives to using tobacco. I want you to model a fraction as a decimal. AGENDA Introduce Chapter 9-3, 9-4, The Fundamental Counting Principle and Permutations. Brain Pop on Probability Lecture on Tuesday Introduce Chapter 8: Tobacco Check foldable, page 211. Show Brain Pop on Tobacco and Smoking Video for Chapter 8. Get out a sheet of paper and make Cornell Notes titled “Decimals”. DO NOW ACTIVITY Do the warm up problems on the blackboard on Chapter 9-3 and 9-4. Get your Cornell notes out or your foldable and take notes on Monday. Get out your Cornell notes and foldable and be prepared to take notes for the lecture. Make sure you have your foldable ready to take notes. Take out a sheet of paper and write your heading on the paper and title it “Decimals”, HOMEWORK Start Reading Chapter 9-3 and 9-4 The fundamentals Counting Principle and Permutations. Do 1 to 12, page 472 to 473 Do 1 to 12, page 476 to 477. Start reading Chapter 8: Do lesson 1-2 in review questions, and workbook from pages 53 to 57. Do foldable on page 211. Do Lesson all of Chapter 4, Positive and Negative Fractions and Decimals. Do the worksheet on lap top. Complete Decimal worksheet. TEST Test will be the on-line test for Chapter 9-4 taken on laptops. Your test will be on Chapter 8: Tobacco. You will use your laptops for this test. Your Test will be a worksheet that consist of using decimals. EXTRA CREDIT Make the foldable on page 458. Label on side with lesson 9-3 and 9-4. Take notes on this foldable and show on Thursday complete with Standard, Vocabulary, and notes. Perform a play of three people using the Persona Dolls on a topic concerning tobacco and stop smoking. Show your power point presentation on why not to smoke. Make a fraction diagram showing how you converted the fraction to a decimal.
