IP address vs. domain name An IP address is a set of numbers specific to your computer A domain name is something easier to remember, such as google.com Ashley Juniewicz

Why have an IP address? IP addresses serve the same purpose as home addresses. Any device that can send and receive information to/from the internet needs an address so accurate communication can take place. Ashley Juniewicz
