The Toothpaste Science Fair By:Haley Chadwell

Question Which amount of toothpaste that sat overnight after adding water had least amount of toothpaste left in the dixie cup?

Background I chose to see which toothpaste dissolved fastest in water for my project because I had never done it before and I thought it would be cool to try. When I first started this I thought it would be boring, but it turned out it was fun. There were two parts that I thought were hard to do when I did this and I got my way through it. All in all, I thought that this project was good to do and was fun.

Hypothesis If I put water in three dixie cups of toothpaste and let them sit overnight, then the Crest toothpaste will dissolve the most.

Variables Independent:Types of toothpaste Dependent:The amount of toothpaste that dissolve in the the water after sitting overnight. Constants:Amount of toothpaste, water, and the size of the dixie cups

Procedure 1:Gather all materials 2:Place the 3 dixie cups in an aluminum pan 3:Put 2 tablespoon of each of the 3 kinds of toothpaste on different spoons then put them each in a dixie cup 4:Add 2 tablespoon full of water in each dixie cup 5:Let it sit overnight 6:Take the 3 spoons and scoop the toothpaste out of the dixie cups to measure which toothpaste dissolved into the water the most

Data-toothpaste Colgate 20cm Aquafresh 15cm Crest 8cm

Data

Conclusion 1.The toothpaste that left the least amount of toothpaste in the cup was the Crest 2.I added 2 tablespoon full of water to the 3 cups. 3.I let the three cups of toothpaste set overnight after adding water was the water had sunk I 4.I added 2 spoon full of water but after it sat overnight the least amount of toothpaste left in the cup was crest and I thought the aquafresh would be the least but the crest was 5.I learned that if u leave toothpaste in a cup overnight after adding water that the water sunk into the toothpaste 6.The only thing that I had a problem with was trying to scoop all the toothpaste off the spoons so all the cups would have an even amount of of toothpaste in all of the dixie cups
