Week Commencing 5th November 2018 Thought for the week Week Commencing 5th November 2018 “Do your work with your whole heart, and you will succeed - there's so little competition.” -Elbert Hubbard Pope Francis tells us: “We all have the duty to do good.”

Liturgical Theme for the week Week Commencing 5th November 2018 “Loving with all your heart.” The aim of this weeks theme is to encourage our students to think about loving with all our hearts. Sometimes this can be really difficult in certain scenarios. When might this be hard?

The Greatest Commandment Monday 5th November 2018 Mark 12:28-34 The Greatest Commandment One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?” “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’  The second is this: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” “Well said, teacher,” the man replied. “You are right in saying that God is one and there is no other but him. To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbour as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.”  When Jesus saw that he had answered wisely, he said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And from then on no one dared ask him any more questions.

Monday 5th November 2018 Paired Speaking Question Do you think it easy to love someone with all that you can give? Class Speaking Challenge: Why do you think Jesus asked us to do this? Class Discussion: What do we mean by ‘love your neighbour’? Exit Pass: When was the last time you showed your ‘love’ for someone? What did you do?

Tuesday 6th November 2018 Love Sometimes we don’t love due to lack of understanding. We are all God’s creatures and made in His image so surely this means we should all be treated the same way? What do the veggies tell us about loving your neighbour in the video? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_h8dNlMkXhE Oh Lord, our Father, in a world turn apart by fear and suspicion, Teach us your children that love is the only means to conquer fear: the Love we encounter as we search you out, the love we encounter as we accept your embrace. Amen

Wednesday 7th November 2018 You’ve got the love Listen to the lyrics of the song. What is it telling us about God’s love for us? Dear God,  Love shines brightly in Your world, and I feel its light. Thank You for loving relationships to nurture.  Amen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwPM_rGZ85M

Take today’s collective worship to pray to love God above all things. Thursday 8th November 2018 Take today’s collective worship to pray to love God above all things. God, my Father,  may I love You in all things and above all things.  May I reach the joy which You have prepared for me in  Heaven.  Nothing is good that is against Your Will,  and all that is good comes from Your Hand.  Place in my heart a desire to please You  and fill my mind with thoughts of Your Love,  so that I may grow in Your Wisdom and enjoy Your Peace. Amen https://youtu.be/aZMexMotViw?list=PL58g24NgWPIy4HUWplqHmXz0GCEcFy5Vw

November is the month when the Church remembers those who have died. Friday 9th November 2018 Action : November is the month when the Church remembers those who have died. How does ‘The Greatest Commandment’ link in with remembering those we have lost? Prayer Loving Father, today, help me remember those we have lost and help me to show my love to those around me. Amen.
