May 2001 History The IEEE 802.11 Working Group formed the Higher Rate 802.11b Study Group in March 2000 The IEEE 802.11g Task Group was via ExCom action at the IEEE 802 Plenary meeting in July of 2000 In subsequent meeting from September 2000 until now the IEEE 802.11g Task Group Adopted an official Selection Procedure 00/209r3 Adopted official Functional Requirements 00/210 Adopted official Comparison Criterion 00/211 Matthew B. May 2001 History (2) At the November 2000 session one of the four submitted proposals was eliminated, namely the uncoded DQPSK proposal At the March 2000 Session one of three remaining proposals was eliminated, namely the MBCK proposal (Results in Doc. 11-01-108r0.) There are two proposals remaining at this time. The deadline for submitting proposals for consideration has passed The two remaining proposals are: Heegard, PBCC, Texas Instruments Webster, OFDM, Intersil Matthew B. Shoemake, TI

May 2001 History (3) At the March 2001 meeting all Selection Procedure steps up to and part of step 19 were completed. The comparison criteria for the proposals has been compiled in document 00/422.
