The Messianic Secret – Jesus’ identity is being concealed But to the reader, we are told ‘up front’, the identity of Jesus. (Christ; Son of God; Lord) The Gospel is “Good news of a great victory” Jesus – Greek (Iesous) – Hebrew (Yeho-sua) [Joshua] = YHWH Saves or The Lord Saves Christ – Greek (Christos) – Hebrew (Messiah) = God’s anointed one Son of God – To claim to be the Son of God was Blasphemy, for that is a claim to be God

Mark 1:2..... “Behold, I send my messenger before your face, Exodus 23:20 Behold, I am sending my messenger ahead of you Malachi 3:1 “Behold, I send my messenger, and he will prepare the way before me. And the Lord whom you seek will suddenly come to his temple; and the messenger of the covenant in whom you delight, behold, he is coming, says the Lord of hosts. Isaiah 40:3 A voice cries: “In the wilderness prepare the way of the LORD;  make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
