Sing to God, you kingdoms of the earth; Psalm 68:32 Sing to God, you kingdoms of the earth; Oh, sing praises to the Lord, Selah Hymns Invitation Red Songbook - Supplemental 2 Corinthians 11:8 I robbed other churches, taking wages from them to minister to you. 1Co 9:14 Even so the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should live from the gospel.
Boundaries of the Kingdom National boundaries are important. Consider the debate today on a fence on our border. What about the border of the kingdom of heaven?
Kingdom Prophecies Psalm 89:27 I also shall make him My firstborn, The highest of the kings of the earth. The Prophets said a kingdom was coming: Which would rule the whole earth Which was headed by the Messiah of God
Kingdom Prophecies Jeremiah 23:5 "Behold, the days are coming," says the LORD, "That I will raise to David a Branch of righteousness; A King shall reign and prosper, And execute judgment and righteousness in the earth. =
Kingdom Prophecies Daniel 2:44 In the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which will never be destroyed, and that kingdom will not be left for another people; it will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, but it will itself endure forever.
Kingdom Prophecies Daniel 7:14 And to Him was given dominion, glory and a kingdom, that all the peoples, nations and men of every language might serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion which will not pass away; and His kingdom is one which will not be destroyed.
The Kingdom Came We know Jesus established this Kingdom His testimony to Pilate John 18:36-37 (1 Tim. 6:13) Testimony of His disciples Colossians 1:13 Hebrews 12:28 Joh 18:36 Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, then My servants would be fighting so that I would not be handed over to the Jews; but as it is, My kingdom is not of this realm." 37 Therefore Pilate said to Him, "So You are a king?" Jesus answered, "You say correctly that I am a king. For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.“ Heb 12:28 Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe;
The Kingdom Came THE GOSPEL IS THE AUTHORITY OF THE KINGDOM Matthew – 53 times Kingdom is preached Did the Kingdom conquer the whole world? Fundamentally preaching the Gospel is preaching that a kingdom has come – the authority of God (Heaven) is now with us (on earth)
The Kingdom Came Mark 16:15 And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.’
The Kingdom Came Matthew 24:14 "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end (of Jerusalem) will come.”
The Kingdom Came Colossians 1:3b …..the gospel that you have heard, which was proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, was made a minister.
The Kingdom Came 1 John 5:4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world--our faith.
Kingdom Boundaries The kingdom is the authority of the Gospel - It exists everywhere - There is no authority above it But not everyone is part of the kingdom - But everyone IS under Christ’s authority - Acts 17:31 Heaven and on earth Ac 17:31 because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead."
Kingdom Boundaries Three important boundary questions: 1. How do we enter it? 2. How do we remain in it? 3. What about those who leave it? Heaven and on earth
Kingdom Boundaries How do we enter the kingdom? Matthew 7:21 – doing the will of God John 3:5 – being born again Acts 14:22 – endurance Mt 7:21 ¶ "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Joh 3:5 Jesus answered, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. Ac 14:22 strengthening the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and saying, "We must through many tribulations enter the kingdom of God."
Kingdom Boundaries Abiding in the Kingdom Ephesians 2:19 – as citizens of the kingdom 2 John 9 – abiding in the laws of the kingdom 1 John 1:7 – citizenship is fellowship Eph 2:19 Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 2Jo 1:9 Anyone who goes too far and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God; the one who abides in the teaching, he has both the Father and the Son. 1Jo 1:7 but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin
Kingdom Boundaries Departing from the Kingdom Hebrews 10:26-29 – willful disobedience 1 John 1:6 – disobedience breaks fellowship Matthew 18:15-17 – no fellowship changes us Mt 18:15 ¶ "If your brother sins, go and show him his fault in private; if he listens to you, you have won your brother. 16 "But if he does not listen to you, take one or two more with you, so that BY THE MOUTH OF TWO OR THREE WITNESSES EVERY FACT MAY BE CONFIRMED.17 "If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector.
Boundaries Matter Knowing that the kingdom is in power Knowing how to gain access to the kingdom Knowing how to abide in the kingdom
Becoming a Citizen of the Kingdom Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God” John 3:5 Peter said to them, "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit” Acts 2:38
