Sr. Portfolio and Teacher Work Sample Dr. Valerio Student Teacher Supervisor Foreign Language Education

Sr. Portfolio Make the work as simple as possible for yourself by using the same artifact for multiple evidence developing a few comprehensive lesson plans that fully implement standards and INTASC principles pointing to different elements of the same lesson plan to demonstrate standards and INTASC principles

Sr. Portfolio Create wonderful artifacts. If your artifact is not readily available reviewers will simply mark it as not present. Attach it in every place in the LiveText portfolio where it applies. Make a plain document and then highlight or bold areas (renaming the altered document) that apply to each standard and describe in the LiveText window why the artifact is relevant for that section.

Sr. Portfolio You’ll have to scan items that you did not create electronically such as clearances, medical tests, drawings or maps, etc., that are required portfolio elements as well as student work samples—Be sure to remove names of student work before scanning…

Sr. Portfolio For a checklist of items needed for your portfolio, see the LHU Teacher Certification segment of homepage Keep in mind this is a brand new requirement. Please help by identifying missing elements notifying me of errors informing me of elements that would help you more if additional detail were provided or if it would be better to be stated in different terms

New Framework Be aware that your Teacher Work Sample, Sr. Portfolio, and PDE-430 reports correlate closely with Charlotte Danielson’s Framework for Teaching and may be used as evidence for an alternative means of providing certification for you…

New Framework You should familiarize yourself with Danielson’s Framework (on course homepage under Internet Links/Resources). If you fulfill the aspects of Danielson’s Framework you will be successful in fulfilling the requirements for certification.

Sr. Portfolio I have coded the ACTFL Standards section with the related INTASC principles. This should assist you in identifying items you can use as evidence for the ACTFL Teacher Preparation Program Standards. Also listed are written suggestions of items that you can provide as evidence.

Sr. Portfolio For major sections, just list the title on the main Table of Contents for the Sr. Portfolio, then make a separate Table of Contents within each major section: INTASC Principles detail ACTFL Standards detail Teacher Work Sample (also stands alone) Professional Semester

Sr. Portfolio LiveText instructions for creating the sections are available on the course homepage under LHU Teacher Certification / Sr. Portfolio Resources / Overview of LiveText…

Sr. Portfolio The Sr. Portfolio is to be reviewed three times: By me and two other professionals, (other faculty, your cooperating teacher, principal, etc.) It is also desired that you bring an undergrad education student along with you to provide them an insight into this process.

Teacher Work Sample This is a stand-alone document as well as a separate section within the Sr. Portfolio. Stand-alone TWS will be due during your first student teaching placement. It is designed around your best 10-day unit. A form has been provided for you containing the basic format for the TWS. You can use it to guide you through the creation process. Additional homepage resources will be added to identify community background info, etc.

Teacher Work Sample Design pre-test, post-test, and at least two formative assessments that will demonstrate student progress and achievement in relationship to the learning goals you establish. Guard your pre-test. Inform students they should not guess at answers. Complete answers they are sure they know. Skip unknown items.

Teacher Work Sample Design pre-test, post-test, and at least two formative assessments that will demonstrate student progress and achievement in relationship to the learning goals you establish. You will be required to provide a numeric calculation of the performance of each student on these tests. Be sure you remove all identification from student work samples.

Teacher Work Sample If you use the Sr. Portfolio Directions booklet, you can open to the Teacher Work Sample Overview and then use the Model for Teacher Work Sample booklet so you can see the directions and the model at the same time.

Conclusion This presentation will be available under LHU Teacher Certification (Sr. Portfolio Resources) on the homepage for this course where you can refer to it if desired.

Conclusion Failure to include all the requested elements will delay your graduation. Your performance provides evidence of the quality of our teacher preparation program so there is a vested interest in your successful performance.

Conclusion Failure to include all the requested elements will delay your graduation. This is also the reason your work is designed to be reviewed by others so there is consensus that your work is comprehensive and fulfills all requirements.

Conclusion Failure to include all the requested elements will delay your graduation. Your Teacher Work Sample and teaching records can serve as alternative means to provide you with certification. Don’t neglect it…

End of Presentation…
